What does the Starter Kit include?

Each registered runner receives a Starter Kit before the event. Inside you will find a white T-shirt, your starter number, a headband as well as some tattoos. It’s best to put on the white Color Run™ T-shirt while you are still at home, since wearing it is mandatory for the event. The places you can put your Color Run™ tattoos is left up entirely to your imagination.

How do I get my starter number?

All Color Runners™ receive their Starter Kits before the run. Inside the Starter Kit you will also find your personal starter number.

How do I get my ticket?

Where and how can I pick up my Starter Kit?

We recommend that you pick up your Starter Kit already on the Thursday or Friday before the event.  This way you avoid stress and long waiting lines on the day of the event. If you bring the tickets of friends and team members you can pick up their Starter Kits as well.

Check in on Thursday or Friday from 12.00 noon to 7.00 pm at Kinepolis (Kirchberg).

Can I switch my registration from one city to another?

Unfortunately this is not possible. Your registration is only valid for the city you registered for.

Does the starter fee get returned in case I can’t take part in the event?

Unfortunately no. Please understand that due to the high amount of logistic and organizational effort that goes into the Color Run™, under no circumstances are we able to return starting fees. We recommend that you double check before finalizing your Color Run™ registration. In case you happen to be unable to take part in the event, feel free to give your ticket to another person. Nevertheless, you are also more than welcome to just stop by, say hello and pick up your Starter Kit.

Do I have to be an experienced runner to take part in the event?

No, you don’t. With us, everything is about having fun and being excited about the event – without the added pressure of time and performance. You don’t have to prove anything to anybody. The runners in the Color Runs™ are as colorful as the run itself: young or old, fast or slow, parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, friends, colleagues and neighbors – simply everyone!

Our goal is to bring people together who want to share an unforgettable experience together.

How physically demanding is the Color Run™?

Again – in the Color Run™ you don’t have to prove anything to anybody. You don’t have to exhaust yourself. If you feel like running fast – run fast. If you fell like walking – that’s ok as well. It’s all about enjoying the fun.

Is there a time limit in the Color Run™?

We don’t measure time during the Color Run™ so there is no time limit to crossing the finish line. All we care about is to get to the finish as colorful as possible.

Can I bring a baby carriage and my kids along with me?

Unfortunately we cannot permit baby carriages on the run since the track is very narrow at certain parts.
To bring your kid with you? On one condition…if you are prepared to be one of the hippest moms and dads on the planet!  As long as they are cute and like to have fun…all kiddos under 6 can run with an adult FREE of charge, but they need to register.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately no, dogs have to stay at home for the event.

Is there an age requirement for the Color Run™?

No. Kids under 6 are even free to take part in the run, but also have to be registered for the event. Without registration and a ticket you cannot take part in the run.

How strict is the white dress code at the beginning of the run?

Let’s put it this way: yellow on yellow or blue on blue just doesn’t really look all that impressive. The most spectacular color results you will get on a simple white T-shirt. After all that’s the point of the whole event!

Can spectators join the runners in the festival area after the run?

Absolutely.  From 11.00 a.m. the festival are is open to public. We will have The Color Run™ powder packets available first come/first serve for everyone to purchase.  You may want to warn them though… they ain’t coming out of The Color Run™ party clean!

What’s the deal with the colored powder? Will I be hurt, defaced or killed by it?

Oh my goodness, no! The colored powder is a 100% natural product made up of corn flower. The color that is mixed with the corn flower is nothing but food color. However, we will guarantee that even your mother won’t be able to recognize you by the time you cross the finish line :)

Is the colored powder going to ruin my shoes and clothing?

After the event the color mostly wears off. If some color should still remain on your clothing or shoes, just give them a quick wash. We recommend that you wear shoes and clothing that you can also see in a very colorful style. And check this out: if you want to keep the color in your clothes permanently just spray them with vinegar and iron them before putting them in the washing machine.

How does the color powder in the Color Zones affect my sight and breathing?

The color we use in the Color Zones is 100% natural and made up of corn flower and food color. It's even eatable! Just like any other substance you want to avoid getting it in your eyes. Some Color Runners™ therefore wear glasses or goggles to protect their eyes as well as a mouth guard or a cloth to breathe. Our helpers will also make sure not to aim at your face when you are passing through the Color Zones.

Are cameras and cell phones safe in the Color Zones?

We recommend that you protect your camera or cell phone by wrapping them in plastic wrap or a small plastic bag. Just to make sure.

Are there any cleaning areas inside the Finisher Festival?

We have posted a few strong guys with leaf blowers inside the finish area to take care of you. After the “de-dusting” you won’t be 100% clean, but you will be clean enough to drive back home.

How does the color throws during the Finisher Festival work?

Every 15 minutes during our Finisher Festival all Color Runners™ will throw color into the air to welcome the newly arrived runners. You will receive your own color packet immediately after crossing the finish line. More can be bought directly at check-in and finish. Remember: he who throws first, will stay colorful the longest!

How does the color affect the inside of my car?

We recommend that you protect your seats with a piece of cloth. Plastic foil works just as well.

How do the teams work?

You and your friends can register together as a team for the Color Run™. To qualify as a team, your team has to have at least 4 members. As a team you get access to reduced ticket prices for each member. The starting fees for all members have to be paid in full by the team captain during the registration. You can register a team with up to 30 members through our online registration. In case you would like to register an even bigger team please contact us at hello.lux@thecolorrun.com

What’s the difference between a solo runner and a Team 4+ Runner?

Once you have registered, you and your team (minimum team size is 4) will start the run together in your group. Be happy, run together and help each other become the most colorful team during the 5 kilometers.

Do we have to stick together as a Color Run™ team during the entire run?

Of course not. You only have to register together for the Color Run™. Some teams like to run the 5 kilometers together as a group, others go their separate ways. Everyone can decide for him or herself.

Can we print our team names on the white T-shirts?

Absolutely! As long as the t-shirt is still white at the beginning of the Color Run™ there are no limits to your imagination. You can print your team name in any way you like as long as you do not paint over the logo of our sponsors. (After all they are the ones who help us run this whole event.)
